Reporting to the Senior Program Manager the incumbent will provide technical expertise and managerial leadership in AMREF South Sudan Capacity Building programme. The position is based in Juba with periodic travel to other field sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Identifying training needs and gaps and developing appropriate training strategic and operational plans and programmes responsive to the Human Resources for Health needs of South Sudan;
- In conjunction with AMREF and Ministry of health of the government of South Sudan, Directorate of capacity building; designing and developing curricula and learning materials; organizing and coordinating various training activities;
- Monitoring and evaluating training curricula and implementation activities;
- Fundraising to support AMREF South Sudan capacity building programme through proposal development and consultancies;
- Advocating for and leveraging resources from central and state governments, health development partners, civil society and private sector to invest in human resources for health;
- Preparing both technical and management training reports to a variety of audience, including management, donors, etc;
- Documenting and sharing experiences and lessons learnt on human resources for health development (HRHD) in South Sudan with stakeholders within the country ,in the region and globally;
- Building strategic partnerships and alliances with government agencies, UN system, NGOs forum, professional bodies and academic institutions to advance the AMREF training and capacity building program in South Sudan;
- Marketing the AMREF South Sudan Training programmes;
- Providing supportive supervision and backstopping to Maridi and other AMREF supported training institutions;
- Representing AMREF in all Committees and Task Forces related with Training and Capacity Building in the national ministry of health and acting the Capacity Building focal person in South Sudan.
Qualifications, experience and skills
The ideal candidate will have a post graduate diploma and or degree in education program management will be desirable with more than 5 years experience managing health training programs and or institution. S/he will have strong training programming, management and technical skills in resource constrained fragile developing country settings. S/he will have knowledge of international and national human resources for health curriculum and capacity building training issues, policies program development, coordination of implementation, monitoring and evaluation and have excellent skills in facilitation, team building and coordination. S/he must have fluency in English/Arabic.
