Call for application; two positions: Branch Secretary and Deputy
Secretary of United Nations Association (UNA) Tanzania – Kagera Branch
Introduction
UNA Tanzania is registered
since 1964, as a non-Governmental and non Profit Organization devoted entirely
to supporting the purposes and principles of the United
Nations Charter, and to the promotion of public awareness and
understanding of the activities of the United Nations
and its agencies. Generally, our aim is to bring the United
Nations closer to the people and the people closer to the United Nations.
A new
UNA Branch has been formed in Kagera Region and an Executive Committee has been
put in place to be the link between the branch and the UNA Head Office in Dar
es Salaam.
The UNA
– Kagera branch now is seeking two qualified and motivated individuals to be
the office bearers; one being the Branch Secretary and Deputy Secretary. These
will facilitate the movement of the branch functions for realization of UNA
objectives. Each applicant should apply for only one of the two posts for
consideration.
Applicants are invited
to submit their scanned credentials and CVs in prescribed Election Nomination form to the Chairperson, UNA Tanzania-Kagera

copy to ypmuch@gmail.com by latest 15th January, 2013.
Shortlisted applicants may be asked to come for interview on 23rd
January 2013. Shortlisted applicants should bring Hard Copies with them when
coming for interview.
Functions of Branch Secretary and Deputy Secretary:
A)
Branch Secretary
The
Branch Secretary shall have the following functions:
- Shall be in charge of day to day
functions of the Association.
- Shall be the head of the Secretariat.
- Shall be the Secretary to the branch AGMs,
Extraordinary General Meetings and Executive Committee meetings.
- Shall report to the Branch Executive
Committee on the Branch activities least once in every three months.
- Shall prepare the annual report of the
UNA Branch and present it at the Annual General
Meeting or Extraordinary General Meeting.
- Shall in consultation with the
Chairperson, convene the meetings of the Executive Committee and the
Annual General Meeting or Extraordinary General Meeting.
- Shall be one of the signatories to
operate the Branch Bank Account(s)
- Shall prepare the annual calendar of events for the Association.
B)
Deputy
Secretary
1.
Shall assist the Branch
Secretary in the functions of the branch office.
2.
Shall act as a Branch Secretary
in the absence of the latter.
3.
Shall perform any functions as
may be delegated to him/her by the branch Secretary or the Branch Executive
Committee.
Criteria
for Appointment:
The candidates seeking
appointment for Branch Secretary or Deputy Secretary should meet the following
criteria:
- Should hold at least a diploma in
development studies. (Good experience in development arena is an added
value for those with certificates)
- Willingness to work as volunteer (a
very competitive allowance package will be offered)
- Sound knowledge and experience on UN
issues
- Sound knowledge on country’s
environment particularly on development policy issues.
- Non- partisan in his or her conduct in
UNA and its work
- Experience in Management Skills
related to UN work
- Excellent organizational skills and
ability to manage change
- Experience in project management and
reporting procedures
- Excellent writing, oral and facilitation skills.
- Working knowledge of financial and
human resource management.
- Strong fundraising and resource
mobilization abilities.
- Gender awareness and sensitivity.
- Good command in English writing and
speaking
Remuneration:
- Currently the positions are on
voluntary basis (facilitated by a monthly allowance)
- An attractive remuneration package
will be offered upon availability of funds
