Preferred location Kenya The Wind Sales Engineer Wind Manager is responsible for driving profitable growth through identifying, evaluating and optimizing and materializing opportunities of the sales of GE's world class wind turbines. Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to work closely with customers, local authorities, engineering companies and GE’s functions such as product management, supply chain, finance and commercial operations.
Thorough assessment of Sub Saharan countries, focusing on Kenya, Ethiopia and Tanzania, establishing market dynamics and trend
Setting up the market penetration and product strategy from a customer and country perspective
Develop customer portfolio
Work closely with the GE GGO (Corporate) local organization
Work within the Regional Sales team ensure adequate integration, proper understanding of the processes, of the tools and the business strategy
Collaborate with the GE P&WPD team in charge of the co-development of projects in emerging markets
Identify and screen the opportunities by assess the project feasibility (technical and financial), product fit and site suitability
Assess the opportunities transportation, erection and site access
Carry out preliminary site suitability assessment by performing Mechanical Loads Analysis as per the GE tools
Conduct wind resource assessments and site analysis; determine wind resource and site characteristics
Conduct Annual Energy Yield estimates based on diverse wind farm configurations and develop Wind Farm Layout with the support of the application engineering teams
Work effectively in a team environment with Commercial Operations, Technical Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Project management to ensure the most efficient use of all resources.
Maintain accurate and current project and opportunity information with the Sales data base system (Compass) and manage the Inquiry to Order ("ITO") process for the region.
Participate in and support wind trade shows, conferences, and other market development activities.
Key measurements will include:
Performance relative to region orders, Margins and Cash Operating Plan
Performance to Goals & Objectives (developed in cooperation with Region Sales Leader)
Orders forecasting and Sales Data Base accuracy
Quality and accuracy of “Strategy to Win” plan developed for Risk Reviews
Demonstration of GE Growth Values
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, with applicable industry experience.
Good knowledge of the Sub-Saharan region and culture
Proven track record, minimum 3 years of sales and\or business development experience in the power industry, and preferably in wind.
Leadership and strong communication skills and confidence with executive level presentations.
Strong interpersonal, team building, and negotiation skills; ability to work with colleagues and customers at all levels of the organizations.
Ability to work in an international team environment with excellent oral and written communication skills
Flexible for frequent travel throughout the region
Self-starter with high energy and ability to energize others.
Fluency in English
Legal authorization to work at mentioned location is required
3-5 years working experience in wind energy industry
Knowledge and skills in working with industry-specific software applications, including WAsP and WindPRO. CFD modeling desired
