Role overview

The volunteer will work as a Radiographer treating patients and providing on-the-job training for assistant medical officers and clinical officers on how to take and read the x-ray and Ultra Sound pictures. To do this you will, get to know the current Radiological / Clinical services, training programmes and staffing 3 clinics/hospitals; train Radiographers in Obstetric / Gynaecological and General Ultrasound using the existing equipment; encourage and facilitate the use of the existing telemedicine system and explore other appropriate systems; support the establishment of a functional and sustainable structure for the Makunduchi Ultrasound service; assess facilities / equipment; support learning of Health Care Workers on reading and interpretation.

Skills, qualifications and experience required

You are a qualified Radiographer with a minimum of 3 years of work experience. You are a team worker with good social and interpersonal skills and networking abilities and have the ability to handle conflicts in a constructive consultative way. It's desirable that you have some knowledge of tropical medicine and experience of working in developing countries, plus that you have a strong interest in HIV&AIDS/PMTCT (Preventing Mother-to-Child Transmission). You should have a pro-active attitude, enabling you to create practical solutions to challenges and demands of a highly frequented hospital.
