Organizational Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the
representative office of the Secretary-General. We support programme implementation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Human Settlements
Programme (UNHABITAT) globally, as well as other UN offices in Kenya, by providing
Administrative, conference, Security and information services (www.unon.org).
The UNON-FMTS/SSS internship is for 3 months with an opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the department.
The Internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period.
1. Assist the Administrative Assistant in updating reports for the following processes :
a. Low value requisition
Updating the excel report
Forwarding the request to Budget section
Keeping track and filing requisition requests
b. Exporting and summarizing the Equip requisition from Lotus Notes Application.
2. Vendor payments for all the FMTS payments including the maintenance contracts & other contracts–
a. Submitting the Service performance certificates to Budget Section and records maintained in the Delivery book,
b. Recording on Payment log book and updating the payment in Excel.
3. Technical Evaluation of RFPs
a. Assist the Administrative Assistant in coordinating the evaluation meeting by preparing the required meeting documents.
b. Assist in compiling technical evaluation report.
4. To perform any other duty as may be delegated by the Administrative Assistant.

Education
Applicants must be enrolled in at least the third year of a first university degree program or in a graduate school (second university degree or higher) program at the time of application, commencement and during the internship.
Be computer literate in standard software applications;
Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Studies in Business Administration or related studies required.
