• The
SECCF Coordinator will report to the Frankfurt Zoological Society Serengeti
Community Outreach (FZS-SCO) Project Leader and FZS-SCO Wildlife Management
Area (WMA) Technical Advisor
• The
SECCF Coordinator will abide by the FZS-SCO Disciplinary Code and Terms and
Conditions of Service
3. Purpose of the job
SECCF’s mission is “to
establish and promote collaboration and integrated coordination amongst
stakeholders of Serengeti eco-system in order to strengthen sustainable
conservation and socioeconomic development through the principle of ecosystem
management using innovative and programmatic strategies.”
The
successful applicant will work as the Executive Secretary for SECCF and
coordinate all the SECCF activities. He/She represents SECCF in the Greater
Serengeti ecosystem, Tanzania and the wider international community. He/She will
be responsible for organizing SECCF meetings, and implementing actions as
agreed by the Steering Committee. The position will work closely with the
FZS-SCO office, Wildlife Division, and Districts to promote transparency and
good governance among CBNRM institutions locally.
4. Main outputs
Technical
responsibilities
•
Prepare
annual workplans and budgets
•
Prepare field activity reports, technical and
financial reports as needed
•
Organize and call meetings for Steering
Committee, Secretariat and Annual General Assembly of the SECCF
•
Liaise with SECCF Chairperson
•
Develop and implement communication plan to
disseminate relevant information about conservation and community development
to stakeholders
•
Gather
and collect research findings across the ecosystem and develop mechanisms for
dissemination to relevant decision-makers
•
Work
with SECCF members to identify options for resolving conflict over natural
resources within the ecosystem
•
Plan, organize and host bi-annual “Ecosystem
Fairs” to promote collaboration among stakeholders
•
Implement internal monitoring and evaluation
of SECCF
•
Maintain relationships with project partners,
ensuring two-way flow of information
•
Support implementation of conservation
research through FZS CREATE project
•
Represent SECCF, and promote conservation
agenda in relevant meetings throughout the ecosystem and especially in
Ngorongoro, Serengeti and Meatu Districts
•
Identify and develop effective partnerships
and collaborations for SECCF
•
Identify opportunities for funding for SECCF
and write proposals
•
Promote long-term sustainability of SECCF
strategic plan, including long-term financing
•
Assure proper, efficient and transparent use
of funds
•
Responsible use and care of project equipment
and assets including vehicle/motorcycle, office equipment, field equipment,
furniture and other facilities as will be provided

Qualifications and Experience
Required
•
Bachelor’s
degree (additional post-graduate degree or advanced diploma preferred)
•
At least 3 years management experience
•
At least 2 years experience in conservation
field
•
Excellent presentation, communication and
writing skills
•
Fluency in Kiswahili and English
•
Ability and willingness to live and work in
remote areas and travel extensively within Tanzania including rural field sites
Desired:
•
Master’s
Degree in conservation, communication, or related disciplines
•
Experience working in Serengeti ecosystem

Terms
Salary
will be commensurate with position and experience. The position will be based
in Mugumu, Serengeti with frequent travel to field sites.

A contract will be offered
until 31 st December 2014, subject to a six-month
probation period, with possibility of extension according to performances.
