Conference Specialist / Manager IDC - Kenya

Overview:

Overall objective of the position is to provide a customer focused service to all attendees of conferences and other IDC events.

Responsibilities:

- Conference production : in cooperation with Country Managers in Africa and regional Conference Director, determine themes and timing for conferences, assemble budgets;
- Local Conference Sales and Business Development: Marketing events to key ICT players in Eastern Africa in strong collaboration with the Country Manager and Conference Sales teams; Preparation of all necessary conference collateral related to events organized in East African region;

- Financial monitoring and management of conference business in East Africa such as preparation of annual conference plan, monthly forecasts and submission of final results;
- Agenda management; recruitment IDC speakers for events;
- Delegate Acquisition: responsible for reaching target number and quality of delegates per event, manages delegate recruitment process;

- Maintain and update extensive events database;
- Supplier Management – handling of all issues related suppliers engaged in event organization;
- Web and Conference Marketing: responsible for conference related content;
- Reporting: responsible for reporting on progress pre and post events to event partners and regional Conference Director;

-  Liaison with press through press releases and ensuring members of the press attend IDC events.

Desired Skills & Experience

- Proven track record in event and conference production and management (min. 5 years);

- Overview of ICT markets;

- Business development / sales experience;

- Demonstrable communication skills both written and spoken;

- Demonstrable problem solving skills;
- Advanced skills in project budgeting and budget execution;
- Advance skills in external services procurement related to organization of events;
- Good level of user knowledge of MS Office and databases;

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
