Position Summary: Key Account Manager

We face new and sometimes unforeseen challenges as we grow, and as a senior executive team we consider it our responsibility to ensure each challenge makes us stronger as an organization. This is particularly important in Kenya where GSM Systems East Africa is seeking to increase its revenue generation by strengthening its local customer relationships and finding new telecom opportunities either directly within existing market or in cooperation with partners and seeks a Key Account Manager to join our sales team in Nairobi to secure new business and manage existing customer accounts. This will build on the considerable successGSM Systems East Africa has already made in East African region through its operations center in Nairobi as well as current strategic contracts in Kenya and the COMESA markets.  We are looking for an identifier who will see creative opportunities, a builder who will add his/her value to build the sales strategy within the organization and a driver who can execute very well.

The position will consist of the following activities and requirements:
  • Cultivate and grow relationships with suppliers and customers
  • Assist with the sales and purchasing process as needed
  • Assist office with internal processes
  • Ability to speak fluent English. Additional local language proficiency e.g. Swahili would be beneficial

  • Management Competencies: Ability to manage a sales team effectively and oversee personnel designated to specific accounts.
  • Willingness to travel abroad, both to Global GSMS Office as well as other countries in the East Africa/COMESA Region.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Sales strategy: Develop specific plan on how to sell GSM Systems East Africa products (local services, equipment sales, repair of network items) to existing and potential customers in the East Africa & COMESA region
  • Revenue targets: will be communicated depending on agreed territory and opportunities
  • Win-Win Negotiation: Get business stakeholders together to provide win-win approach/analysis to drive business deals to close.
  • Win major contracts: Personally win new customers and grow share of customer, knock down barriers to entry and close deals; build & enhance strategic 3rd party relationships
  • Analysis and planning: Monitor sales activity related to existing customers, pipeline, and prospects; provide accurate forecasts.
  • Teamwork: interact  effectively with other parts of the company, get operational statistics that would promote business including providing objective win/loss analysis and customize this to strengthen the value proposition for local customers.
