MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs skilled journeyman level maintenance and repair of household appliances, washers, dryers, dishwashers, distillers, other type machines, and office machines. Determines extent and nature of work to be done from work order, supervisory instructions, trouble call, or by diagnostic tests. Runs new wiring, installs outlets, switches and plugs. Trouble shoots existing equipment and repairs. Will perform work on air-conditioners control circuit boards and refrigerators circuit broads of a very high technical nature. Disassembles machine to extent necessary and adjusts, repairs, or replaces defective parts, using hand tools and sometimes very high level electronic device testing equipment. . Overhauls machines, replacing parts as necessary to insure new machine condition. May use electrical testing instruments and other equipment in diagnosing problems. May fabricate parts when not in stock, operating engine lathe, drill press, and grinding and buffing equipment, and using micrometers and other precision measuring to insure parts are of correct dimensions. May perform repairs on site as well as in the shop. Periodically inspects, cleans, oils, and adjusts all machines for which responsible. Provides information for ordering parts that needed for appliances repair.

Recommends replacements and upgrades on electrical systems. Must be able and component to work on all types of industrial and residential appliances.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

1. Education: Completion of Elementary School (Standard VII) is required. Vocational training in electrical and Power Generation is required.
2. Prior Experience: Three years Plus work experience in Heavy Industrialized Electrical Environment required.
3. Language proficiency: Level III (Good working Knowledge) in English and Level IV (fluent) in Kiswahili (speaking, writing and reading) are required.
4. Knowledge: Must have Strong knowledge in practices and procedures of the electrical field. Must have knowledge of how to safely use hand tools and some power tools in the electrical related field.
5. Skills and Abilities: Must have troubleshooting on short circuits and repair of electrical equipment skills and Power Generation skills. Computer skills and some carpentry and masonry skills are an advantage. Ability to perform diagnostics and repairs. Must have valid driver's license and the ability to safely and regularly drive a GOV Vehicle.
