Context
Responsible for coordination of certain SES satellite systems over the Americas to allow full use of existing assets and lay the groundwork for future expansion, support satellite development projects in the Americas, protect and expand satellite spectrum internationally and in individual administrations, and assist in licensing of spectrum for SES satellites.
Responsibilities
• Lead specific satellite frequency coordination activities of SES satellite network filings over the Americas;
Represent Spectrum Management & Development on internal development teams evaluating new business opportunities e.g. on select sales capture teams and new satellite service initiatives;
• Serve as Spectrum Development lead on select satellite market access activities with foreign governments and business entities to ensure ability of SES satellite systems to serve customer requirements in foreign countries/regions;
• Serve as Spectrum Management & Development lead on operational issues;
• Contribute to the development of new satellite concepts and mission design;
• Analyze proposed technical changes to the FCC or other administrations’ rules;
• Prepare technical portions of FCC applications as needed;
• Represent company interests as required at ITU meetings and other spectrum related meetings in order to support new spectrum opportunities and defend existing spectrum rights;
• Participate in US preparatory meetings for the ITU as required.

Experience / Qualifications
• Demonstrated solid knowledge of national regulations in the Americas and ITU Radio Regulations and Rule of Procedure relating to satellites;
• Demonstrated strong analytical skills in satellite engineering and interference analyses;
• Significant experience in negotiation and government relations;
• Demonstrated knowledge of the global satellite services industry including satellite technologies,
• applications and commercial imperatives;
• Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work closely with technical, commercial and regulatory; colleagues and to communicate ideas effectively through presentation and written documentation;
• Ability to train others in satellite coordination and related activities;
• Minimum eight (8) years experience in satellite communications and experience with international and domestic coordination/regulation activities, other experience levels considered;
• Bachelor or Masters in Electrical Engineering preferred;
• Ability to undertake travel overseas (roughly 20% of time);
• Possess a proactive, “can do” attitude;
• Strong desire to learn new skills/competencies and take on new challenges;
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team across multiple parts of the organization and particularly collaborate with Spectrum colleague counterparts;
• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
