Project Manager, DRC Fixed Term – 8 months
The total salary package for this position is £39,384 - £42,972 GBP (approximately $63,433 - $69,212 USD) including basic salary, cost of living allowance and hardship allowance.
MAG supports development in countries emerging from conflict by finding and destroying the debris of war so that men and women can raise their families, and pursue their livelihoods, in a safe and secure environment, free from fear of death or injury.
MAG has been working in DRC since 2004 on a range of clearance activities, decreasing the risk posed by mines and unexploded ordnance. As well as conducting technical clearance work, MAG also delivers risk education, to further reduce the threat to local communities.
MAG is seeking a Project Manager to oversee a new project in Katanga, DRC. You don’t need previous experience in mine action but you should have experience in overseas project management roles, within an international aid/humanitarian organisation.
The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all project objectives are met, which will include overseeing the day to day management of a technical and community liaison team. Successful liaison with local authorities, NGO’s and UN agencies will also be key in this role. You will also oversee all financial, administrative, security, HR and logistics elements of the project.
You will therefore need experience across the range of project management functions, including experience of managing national staff and the ability to motivate a team. In addition, you should have experience working with a range of institutional donors and experience of developing new projects.
You will be based in the Katanga province, but with regular travel to MAG’s operational bases and to Goma, Lubumbashi and Kinshasa for coordination purposes.
French and English language skills are essential for this post.
Recruitment to this position will be subject to the receipt of funding.
