SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of this role is to generate significant annual corporate revenue through the development of cause-marketing programs and new corporate partnerships. Strong focus will be placed on generating cause-marketing alliances that produce unrestricted revenue to support the overall mission of Save the Children, and expanding the current Mom’s the Word Campaign by building and renewing the existing corporate sponsor portfolio.
The Director will help develop the vision and strategy for implementing an aggressive cause marketing fundraising program that positions Save the Children as a preferred charity of choice for major global corporations. An experienced fundraiser and relationship-builder, the Director will support the efforts of the Senior Director, Cause Marketing and Partnership Development and AVP/Chief Corporate Development Officer to create a world class Unit to drive the revenue growth and new business development of major corporate partnerships, and will be a key advisor to the Agency in this area of expertise.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop strategies to expand Save the Children’s Mom’s the Word cause marketing campaign; develop corporate prospecting plan, sales materials and lead pitch presentations to secure additional partners in a customer-facing approach. Manage the Mom’s the Word Agency of Record; develop KPI plan and provide ongoing monitoring to ensure the campaign delivers on Save the Children’s strategic objectives and corporate partner’s expectations.
- Build new corporate partnerships with a focus on raising unrestricted revenue. Develop overall pitch approaches and template materials which can be leveraged across all new business activity.
- Working with the Senior Director and Manager of Cause Marketing & New Business, secure a minimum of 3 new national and/or global cause marketing partnerships per year, leveraging the power of the Save the Children brand. Work closely with all members of the Corporate Partnerships Team to ensure that cause marketing opportunities are explored, presented and secured with our current partners; collaborate with corporate partner’s marketing teams and Save the Children’s Marketing & Communications Team during the sales progress and creative development to ensure messaging supports Save the Children brand guidelines and key objectives.
- Work collaboratively across all areas of the Agency as an advisor and partner on opportunities impacted by corporate cause-related marketing activities, with a particular focus and synergy around advancing our “Be the Voice for Children” strategy. Examples would include working closely with our Marketing & Communications to develop corporate partnerships that increase our brand recognition, digitial and social media outreach, thought leadership profile and volunteer engagement.
Organization Description
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of experience in progressively responsible positions, with significant not-for-profit corporate partnership and cause marketing experience.
- Extensive experience in fundraising, sales, marketing and promotions required.
- Proven track record in new business development in the not-for-profit sector needed – in competitive, matrixed environments.
- Relevant experience in the for-profit sector in the areas of marketing, brand management, public relations and new business development desirable.
- BA required, advanced degree in marketing, business, public health or communications desirable.
- Up to 25% travel may be required.
- Ability to work effectively and gain the respect of various constituencies including senior corporate executives and decision makers.
- Extensive knowledge of cause-related fundraising, business development, sales, marketing, digital promotions and communications; experience developing successful cause marketing campaigns that drive undesignated revenue and brand awareness.
