Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is
the overseas relief and development agency arm of the United States Conference

Catholic Relief Services South
Sudan Program wishes to recruit highly competent, proactive and self-driven
persons (South Sudanese National only) to fill the position of Master (WASH) to
be based in Kapoeta and Fields, South Sudan.
PURPOSE
OF THE POSITION:
Key personnel in charge of the
management of the drilling rig and other drilling equipments; supervise the
drilling activities.
KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the
supervision, support and training of the team members in various drilling
techniques and pump installations.
- In consultation with
the Team Leader liaise with Partners and community leaders to ensure
access to project sites and make sure security situation is stable when
personnel and equipment are on site.
- Responsible for the
overall operation and maintenance of the drilling equipment and
accessories in use for project activities.
- Maintain driller’s
logbook on activities, supplies and fuel used and constraints met on daily
basis.
- Monitor and request
in good time and quantity, the drilling supplies and spare parts required
to avoid delays in project activities.
- Ensure that well
platforms are constructed as per the standard specifications and quality
stipulated in the WASH Technical Operational Manual and that pumps are
installed at depths recommended by the Logger.
- Drilling crew
supervision
- Making estimates of
drilling operations requirements
- Preparing orders and
specifications for drilling consumables
- Designing boreholes
and ensuring that drilling conforms to stipulated standards and
specifications
- Arranging work
schedules and shifts for drilling crew
- Oversight on cost
effective utilization, safety and maintenance of all resources allocated to
the drilling programme.
- Responsibilities for
technical reports, consumption reports and preparing work plans
- I have
responsibilities for ensuring monitoring systems are in place and that
project reviews are carried out periodically in conjunction with the wider
team.
Minimum
Qualifications/Experience
- Degree or Higher
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University.
- Post University
training in operating and maintaining PAT Drill Machines and ATALSCOPCO
Compressors.
- Strong South Sudan
experience in Air Rotary and Mud Drilling.
- Strong experience in
borehole yield test and installation of submersible Pumps.
- Knowledge and
practical experience of Borehole Drilling and Construction including
drilling equipment mechanical/maintenance knowledge.
- Commitment to
capacity-building and enhancing problem solving skills in staff and
communities.
- Good planning,
negotiation and leadership skills.
- Previous experience
of supervision and training.
- Ability to
communicate in English is desirable.
- Ability to learn and
fit in with CRS’s organization culture.
- Must have a valid
accident free driving license with over 5 years of driving experience.
- A strong Team
Leader, a trainer and troubleshooter.
