Purpose of the position
The Outreach & Development works closely with the Executive Director to further develop and manage the implementation of Fairfood International’s fundraising and communication strategies in such a way that:
• Fairfood International is guaranteed long-term financial freedom and stability as well as significantly diversifying its funding sources and increasing its revenues
• Fairfood International and its global community grows steadily and Fairfood is recognized worldwide as a leading voice advocating for sustainability in our global food system.

Department:
As from December 1st 2012, Fairfood established newly the Outreach & Development department. This department is Fairfood’s ‘sales’ and ‘marketing’ unit. The department is composed of two specialised teams namely: Fundraising and Communications. Each team is composed of one senior manager and several managers; all lead by the Director Outreach & Development. The Director Outreach & Development reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities and Requirements:
Strategy formulation and implementation
The Director Outreach & Development is responsible for ensuring the proper formulation and implementation of Fairfood International’s Fundraising and Communications strategy. He/ She is responsible for advising the Executive Director on new strategic insights and new business development ideas.

Competences
- University degree or Masters in marketing and sales or related field
- At least 12 years work experience leading and managing multidisciplinary teams preferably in the development / NGO sector
- International work experience and knowledge of the food industry and sustainability
- Demonstrable national & international fundraising track record preferably within the NGO setting
- A smart and inspiring individual who is expected to persuasively demonstrate Fairfood’s case for support to all stakeholders.
- Strong leader who is capable of exercising authority and decisiveness.
- Very approachable and shows empathy to colleagues and respect for leadership.
- Very strong strategic and analytical abilities
- Excellent and efficient networker with a wide range of international contacts in the Media and also in the development field
- Proven ability to deliver results on time and within budget
- Excellent planning, monitoring, evaluating and reporting abilities
- Highly creative and innovative and good knowledge of corporate communications
- Mature client handling and interpersonal skills, at the level of dealing with complex relationships with great negotiation skills
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly, nationally and internationally
- Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Other languages are an advantage
