MUSOMA WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION PROJECT:

CONSTRUCTION OF INTAKE, PUMPING STATIONS, TRANSMISSION MAIN, GRAVITY MAIN, WATER TREATMENT PLAN, STORAGE RESERVOIR, DISTRIBUTION OF EXISTING STORAGE RESRVOIR AND EXISTING BOOSTER STATION,

1. The Unites Republic of Tanzania has received funds from Agence francaise de Development towards the cost of Musoma Water Supply and Sanitation Project and it intends to apply part of these funds to effect payments under the contract for Construction of Intake, Pumping Stations, Transmission Main, Gravity Main, Water Treatment Plant, Storage Reservoir, Distribution network, Sludge Drying Bed,

Sludge Digester, Rehabilitation of existing Storage Reservoir and existing Booster Station, Bid No, ME – 011/2010-2011/W/04, The Ministry of Water (MoW) intends to pre-qualify contractors and/or firms for Construction of the infrastructure for Musoma Water Supply and Sanitation Project. The mojar works under this Contract include:
• Construction of an intake structure of capacity 36,400m3/day at Bukanga area, Lake Victoria;

• Construction of a raw water pumping station for 5 raw water low lift pumps each with a capacity of approximate 413mr/hr;
• Supply and installation of 5 new raw water low lift pumps each with a capacity of approximate 413m3hr;
• Supply and installation of raw water rising main of DN 600 and length 315m;
• Construction of a water treatment plant (design flow 34,450m3/day) which includes:
i. 1 inlet chamber and 4 cascades for chemical dosing:
ii. 4floccolation basins and 8 clarifiers
iii. 8 rapid sand filtration units with all fittings and controls;
iv. Clear water and backwash tank of capacity 2400 m3;
v. 3 backwash pumps of capacity 540 m3/h (2duty + 1 standby);
vi. Chemical building of size 350 m2:
vii. 2 sedimentation tanks of capacity 270 m3;
viii. 2sludge drying beds of area 780 m2 each
ix. Administrative building of area 190 m2;
x. Administrative building of area 190 m2;
xi. Staff House – 2 twin units of area 2x60 m2.

• Construction of clear water pumping station for 3 high lift pumps each with a capacity of approximate 784m3/hr;
• Supply and installation of 3 new high lift pumps each with a capacity of approximate 784m/hr;

• Supply and installation of DN 600 DI Class K9 clear water pumping main of length 4,800m from the water treatment plant to the main storage tank at Nyamihongo hill;
• Construction of 5,000m3 reinforced concrete builk storage reservoir at Nyamihongo hill
• Supply and installation of DN 500 – 750 DI Class K9 gravity main of length 5,827m from Nyamihongo reservoir to town;
• Supply and installation of distribution network of diameter ranging between DN 50 to DN 400 of approximate length 45,248m:
• Rehabilitation of Kamunyonge booster station (installation of two new pumps);
