The Maternal & Newborn Health Unit at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is an active academic unit seeking to improve maternal and newborn health globally. One of the key programmes is the ‘Making it Happen: Capacity Development of Human Resources for Maternal and Newborn Health Programme’, supported by Department for International Development (DFID), UK Aid.
In order to support this commitment, we are looking for a Programme coordinator to provide efficient and effective programme management support to ensure the smooth running of projects and programmes. As well as undertaking a wide range of duties, the programme coordinator will contribute to the day to day management of the office based in Tanzania.
You will have day to day operational coordination of research programmes which will include responsibility for implementing systems to monitor the progress of programme activity and ensure successful delivery. It will also be expected that the successful candidate will coordinate the completion of reports as required by the partners and donors.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent with evidence of continued professional development in a relevant subject area. Proven experience in providing programme support to complex international projects is essential, as is experience of aspects of financial management when dealing with development and/or funding agencies.
The ability to communicate and build effective working relationships with a range of people at all levels from diverse cultures is a pre-requisite of the role, as is excellent time management and organisational skills. Excellent working knowledge of MS Office applications is crucial for this role.
