The African Union,
established as a unique Pan African continental body, is charged with
spearheading Africa’s rapid integration and sustainable development by
promoting unity, solidarity, cohesion and cooperation among the peoples of
Africa and African States
as well as developing a new partnership worldwide. Its Headquarters is located
in Addis Ababa, capital city of Ethiopia.

2.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
a. To
contribute to the elaboration and formulation of policies and regulations,
master plan, action plans for the development of programs and projects relating
to Radio communications, spectrum Management and Broadcasting technologies
b.
To
facilitate implementation, monitoring, supervision and evaluation of projects
and programs in Radio Communications and Broadcasting Technologies
c.
To
prepare and coordinate studies and research in related fields of Radio
communications, spectrum Management and Broadcasting technologies;
d.
To
organize and service workshops, seminars and meetings on Radio communications
and Broadcasting technologies
e.
To
conduct the work of the specialized technical committee and sub-committees on
Radio communications and Broadcasting Technologies
f.
To
collect data and specific information related to Radio communications and
Broadcasting technologies.
g.
To prepare and submit periodic reports on
activities and specific missions
h.
To
perform any other duty as may be assigned

Educational Qualifications
Candidates must have, a Master Degree in
Electrical/electronic Engineering, or equivalent qualification in fields
related to Radio communication, spectrum management and/or broadcasting
technologies,
Higher qualification will be an added
advantage.
4.
Work Experience:
Candidates
must have at least 8 years of progressively relevant experience in
Radio-Communications, Telecommunications , Information and Communication
Technologies
development as well as programme/project management of which a minimum of 3-4
years’ experience in Telecommunications and broadcasting; Experience at
regional and international levels in radio communications.
Spectrum management and broadcasting
issues is desirable.

Other Relevant Skills:
Planning
and organising - Proven ability to plan and organise work
within a project; ability to make timely decisions;
Communication -
Effective written, oral and presentation skills, particularly ability to
draft/present information in a concise and accurate manner; ability to develop
consensus among people with varying points of view.
Teamwork: Excellent
interpersonal skills and ability to operate effectively across organizational
boundaries; ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with
people of different national and cultural backgrounds with respect for
diversity.
Judgment/Decision-making
-
Good judgment and initiative, imagination and resourcefulness, energy
and tact, ability to ensure an effective work structure to maximize
productivity and achieve Unit goals.
Computer literacy: Well-developed
IT skills including efficient use of Microsoft office major applications:
word processing, spread sheets Excel spread-sheet, Power Point, outlook and
spectrum management software. Other important computer applications will be an
added advantage.Well-developed ICT skills including efficient use of word
processing, spreadsheets and other important computer applications.

Language Requirement:
Proficiency in
at least one of the
African Union working
languages (English, French,
Arabic
and Portuguese) is a must have. Knowledge of the other working languages would
be an added advantage.

Age Requirement:
Candidates
must preferably be between 35 and 50 years old.

Tenure of Appointment:
The appointment will be made on a fixed term
contract for a period of three (3) years, of which the first twelve months be
consider as a probationary period. Thereafter, the contract will be for a
period of two years renewable, subject to satisfactory performance.

10. Remuneration:
Indicative basic salary of
US$33,619.00 per annum plus other related entitlements e.g. post adjustment
(46% of basic salary or US$15,464.74 per annum), housing allowance
(US$14,414.60 per annum), education allowance (75% of tuition and other related
expenses for every eligible dependent up to a maximum of US$7,800.00 per child
per annum), etc. for internationally recruited staff of the Commission.
