Chemonics seeks a long-term engineer and infrastructure specialist for the anticipated USAID-funded South Sudan Safe Learning Environments project to increase equitable education services for children. The project aims to strengthen the quality and management of the education system and promote stability. Applicants must be willing to work and travel throughout South Sudan. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Responsibilities include:
* Support the development of a rural construction strategy involving the public sector
* Manage project finances and budget
* Supervise and support project staff
* Manage and monitor progress and produce reports
Qualifications:
* Master's degree or professional registration in civil engineering, architecture, quality surveying, or equivalent
* Professional experience in civil engineering, construction, the design of civil works, or construction supervision
* Ten years of relevant experience
* Experience in a developing country required
* Experience analyzing and implementing rural infrastructure projects
* Experience working for a humanitarian aid organization and conducting reconstruction needs assessments
* Experience in program planning, managment, and monitoring
* Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with technical and construction experts
* Fluency in English required; proficiency in Arabic a plus
