PSI seeks qualified candidates for the position of Malaria and Child Survival Department (MCSD) consultant to lead Child Health activities in Zambia, for 2-3 months dependent upon level of effort needed to complete project. The MCSD strategic plan focuses on providing relevant support to country platforms to improve child health through:
1) Maximizing malaria prevention with LLINs. 2) Launching and scaling up integrated malaria, pneumonia and diarrhea treatment programs. 3) Piloting new, high impact interventions focused on nutrition, sanitation and newborn health. This position is based remotely, with up to 50% travel to Zambia.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has a varied and challenging role providing research, situation analysis, and strategy development.
Duties include:
• Mapping and analyzing current bottlenecks preventing scale-up of the use of ORS/zinc for diarrhea and antibiotics for pneumonia. • Mapping and analyzing current bottlenecks preventing scale-up of health sector- related diarrhea preventive interventions. • Developing a preliminary high-level strategy for overcoming the identified bottlenecks. | |
• Relevant post-graduate degree (MPH, MIA, MBA, etc.) or equivalent experience
• At least four years work experience with at least two years in a developing country • Knowledge of qualitative research methods and interview techniques • Knowledge of PSI platform operations and implementation MCS interventions, specifically for diarrhea and pneumonia • Familiarity with the international donor community, especially USAID • Familiarity with PSI internal systems • Fluency in English
