PSI seeks entrepreneurial, dynamic and creative candidates with an interest in private sector approaches to development for the position of Associate Program Manager, East Africa. This position is based in Washington, D.C., and entails approximately 25% overseas travel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Associate Program Manager is responsible for supporting PSI's social marketing programs in East Africa. Backstopping duties include: • Monitoring contract compliance, conducting and facilitating reviews and modifications; • Financial monitoring of programmatic expenditures, program income, Enterprise Funds, Annual Operating budgets; using ASRs and collaboration with Financial Analysts • Coordinating between field and DC on technical and cost proposal development, leading and assisting in preparation and review of budgets • Overseeing project setup and close-out as needed; • Assisting in new business development by identifying new project and product opportunities, designing new projects and contributing to concept notes and proposals; • Advising and assisting field platforms on capacity building, development, and strategic issues; • Overseeing coordinating with procurement team on procurement and logistics; • Researching selected topics; • Managing overall communications with overseas staff; • Maintaining and distributing reference materials; • Conducting short term technical assistance trips; and • Fulfilling other programmatic and administrative functions as required.
• Master's degree in a relevant subject (MBA, MPH, etc.) or equivalent experience
• At least 3 years of relevant work exp required with 2 years experience in a developing country strongly preferred • Strong analytical/problem solving capabilities; • Excellent quantitative skills, with particular emphasis on working with budgets and spreadsheets • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet software and data analysis • Excellent writing and communication skills • Fluency in French or Portuguese preferred The successful candidate will also have excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and cross-cultural skills; demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize a variety of tasks on short notice within designated deadlines; and an interest in future overseas posting with PSI.
Preference will be given to candidates with private sector experience in business management; knowledge of USAID and the international donor community; and an interest in private sector approaches to development.
