Five studentships are available for October 2013 in this interdisciplinary PhD programme.
The programme, based at the Institute of Metabolic Science, a prestigious research institute on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, includes over 50 investigators from several University departments and Research Institutes, all with a common interest in understanding the causes and consequences of these common disorders.
Particular areas of strength include genetics, cell biology, epigenetics, imaging, molecular biology, biochemistry, behavioural science, systems biology, endocrinology and vascular biology.
The programme provides excellent research training. During the first year students develop first-hand research experience through three mini-research projects and additional training. At the end of the 1st year work is submitted for an MRes degree and students select a specific PhD research project for years 2-4.
Support includes stipend at Wellcome Trust rates, and University and College fees. Funding is available for home and overseas (non-EU) students.
Fixed-term: 4 years.
The University values diversity and is committed to equality of opportunity.
