Director of Development
UCP Wheels for Humanity
Responsibilities
• Develops and executes UCP WFH annual fundraising plan in conjunction with goals outlined in the strategic plan
• Designs, implements and manages all fundraising activities including: annual campaign, special events, endowment and grant management
• Manages staff responsible for the development and tracking of proposals for all foundation and corporate fundraising
• Manages staff responsible for special events coordination and implementation
• Secures financial support from individuals, foundations, corporations and various funding partners while cultivating relationships
• Designs and oversees production of all major publications, including Social Media, newsletter (pint and electronic), website, press releases, brochures and marketing materials for solicitations and events
• Researches prospects and supports the development of large (>$1,000,000) government and foundation proposals
• Manages the implementation of Raiser's Edge and oversee staff responsible for data entry and gift processing
• Develops and executes a well-designed stewardship plan for various donor levels
• Develops fundraising training for board members and other leadership volunteers
• Assumes responsibility for all Development reports to the Board and other agencies, and attends all Board meetings
• Assists the Board with recommending and researching potential new members
• Creates and oversees office systems to support all Development projects and operations
• Works closely with the Executive Director, Program Specialist and UCP of Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties (UCPLA) to develop public relations plan and an advertising plan
• Develops and implements strategies to promote UCP WFH’s mission
Qualifications
• A minimum of 5 years professional fundraising and marketing experience
• Proven experience in designing and managing development and marketing programs
• Advanced knowledge in the development of government and large grant proposals
• Experience with developing and maintaining productive working relationships with board members, donors, and foundations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work as a leader and as part of a team
• Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills
• Knowledge of Raiser's Edge (a plus)
• Experience in development for international organizations
• Strong skills working with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Must be proactive and have the ability to be a self-starter
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (a plus)
• BA (required), MA (a plus)
