Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 90 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.
Main function: The Web Programmer will perform Web and CMS programming tasks in close coordination with a senior programmer, and support Linux system administration.
Responsibilities:
• Develop software applications for the Web and support the on-going development of our corporate website using PHP and Javascript.
• Provide system administration support to Linux-based online platforms.
• Provide technical support for existing Web CMS deployments, using Expression Engine, eZpublish, Drupal, WordPress and some custom LAMP applications.
• Develop and administer database applications in both mySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Supervise interns, consultants or others as required by the line manager to ensure successful implementation of defined areas of web/programming work.
• Do communications work on social media platforms as required.
Knowledge, experience and skills required:
• Undergraduate or postgraduate university degree and/or similar professional experience in the relevant field
• 3+ years of relevant work experience in web programming
• Experience with PHP based frameworks and/or Content Management Systems
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Linux and Linux system administration
• Shell scripting, SQL and PHP skills are mandatory, PERL and Python desirable
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
Assets considered attractive:
• Experience with an international NGO or multinational organisation
• Proven commitment to social justice issues
• Additional languages skills an asset (particularly Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese or Russian)
