Systems Software Technical Specialist

This role is for a Client Technical Specialist in IBM Systems and Technology Group, focused on enabling and supporting sales of STG's System Software portfolio of hypervisors, platform and availability management applications and storage virtualization and management technologies. Technical Sales Specialists act as technical consultants to our clients, understanding the clients' business requirements, IT requirements and/or competitive landscape. This role spend their time specifically in STG Systems Software focus products and categories and the use of these to leverage, enable or clothe sales from the greater STG portfolio. The categories currently are: Platform & Energy, Virtualization, Storage, Availability and Security. They will provide the expertise to ensure the technical feasibility of any client proposal focusing on STG System SW content and to remove technical inhibitors to the sale of IBM products, solutions and services within the client’s environment They will have deep product skills across the Sys SW portfolio (such as Systems Director, Active Energy Manager, VMcontrol, PowerVM, PowerHA, z/VM, Parallel Sysplex...) They will work with lab resources, as necessary, for complex cases The position is based in Dubai and involves frequent travel within the Middle East and less frequently Africa regions. The successful candidate will have significant personal experience in a pre-sales role including a number of products in IBM's System software portfolio as well as strong platform and architectural capabilities including areas such as storage virtualisation (SVC), storage management (TPC) or deduplication (ProtecTIER) and server virtualisation and platform management skills.
