Job Summary:
The Marketing Manager, East Africa is responsible for developing marketing strategies and tactics to achieve business and customer experience objectives within East Africa.
The specific emphasis of this role will be to translate business unit objectives and strategies to develop and drive marketing initiatives that facilitate the growth of Western Union business in East Africa.
Reporting to the Country Manager East Africa, this position is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support and facilitate development and implementation of annual marketing plans in each country.
- Ensure Agent buy-in and alignment in the countries while providing on-going support to achieve the plan.
- Coordinate agencies and vendors in the execution of planned campaigns and other initiatives.
- Collaborate with relevant internal business partners including but not limited to Business, Marketing, Finance, Legal and Operations.
- Responsible for the management of the marketing budget to ensure its optimal utilization. In liaison with the Country Manager ensure that agent budgets are appropriately used to drive the key business and brand priorities.
- Analyze market, consumer, and competitive information to support the existing products and new product development efforts
- Ensure Western Union branding standards are adhered to.
- Monitor, Review and report on all marketing activities and results.
Qualifications
- University Degree is required.
- Extensive experience in all aspects of developing and maintaining marketing strategies to meet organizational objectives.
- Experience managing and controlling marketing budgets.
- Proven ability to plan and execute all marketing, advertising and promotional activities hands-on.
- Experience in being both a team member and leader in cross functional and cross border teams, where cultural diversity plays a major role.
- Strong written, presentation and negotiating skills in a cross-cultural environment.
- Detailed-oriented with ability to oversee projects from origin through execution.
- Proficient PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus, and Internet) are necessary.
- Fluency in English. Knowledge of language spoken in the region is a plus.
- Ability to travel
- At least five years marketing experience in management position, in financial services sector.
- Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics in Kenya, Uganda & Tanzania
