In order to contribute to the implementation, management, and supervision of Medair’s WASH programme in Lakes State. Medair is recruiting for the below position.
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Technician
Based in Awerial County, Lakes State, South Sudan
Technicians have responsibility, individually or shared, for individual packages of the whole WASH programme in Lakes State. Within these packages the WASH technicians will have the following responsibilities:
Direct, supervise and manage the work of contractors, casual laborers and community groups to ensure a good quality of work. Training of water management committees, boreholes hand pump mechanics and hand pump attendants, Appropriately involve the host community in all phases of the projects, through community meetings, meetings with water committees, Regular, open and honest communication, both formal and informal, with the WASH Team Leader and other team members on progress towards the project objectives, challenges, questions and the security situation, regular, open and honest communication with the WASH Team Leader on the performance of contractors and casual laborers, clearly refer issues that cannot be dealt with on the ground to the WASH Team Leader, timely preparation of Field Visit Reports, Assessment Reports, meeting minutes etc. for the WASH team develop and maintain good working relationships with the NGOs, counterparts, and other agencies working in the areas of project implementation, attend meetings with local authorities on behalf of Medair.

Qualification | Degree or diploma in civil or environmental engineering, water technology, water supply, ground water hydrology. Technical training/certification in borehole repair/rehabilitation. | Diploma in Community Based Development; Knowledge of Participatory methodologies |
Work experience | At least 2 years experience in implementing water, sanitation and hygiene promotion projects. | Worked in South Sudan |

Work conditions | You will work and live in a town/village in Lakes State, a location of relative insecurity in South Sudan. Living conditions will be basic and the pace and hours of work are demanding, requiring resilience and stamina. Frequent supervision visits to health facilities within the County, which will involve stays of several days in basic accommodation. Travel to the field is by car. |
