Job Description
To ensure effective and efficient management of Units within WB Operations in accordance to laid down processes and procedures in order to manage operational risk and enhance bank’s profitability, reputation and quality customer serviceKey Roles & Responsibilities
Ensure that all procedures and processes within WB Operations comply with Risk management / Group policies
Ensure that all transactions within WB Operations are processed in a manner which meets agreed service standards in order to enhance quality customer service
Drive service quality initiatives for WB Operations to achieve higher service quality standards, ensuring that the Units achieve the agreed service level commitments for the reduction/elimination of customer complaints.
Continuously review and recommend changes in process flows of all Units within WB Operations to achieve efficiency and maximum automation levels without compromising controls
Ensure that the bank does not suffer loss financially as a result of inadequate documentation, frauds, delays and processing errors
Monitor expenditure to ensure services provided by WB Operations are cost effective and within manageable levels
Embed BOLD (Building Operations Leadership Discipline), ensuring that action plans are tracked by all Units and reports, which could be used as a tool for decision making are shared with CIO and business
Ensure that all accounts which fall within the responsibility of WB Operations are balanced and reconciled in accordance with group guidelines and all outstandings are followed-up and resolved on a timely manner
Ensure Monthly Control Checks and KRIs are done on a timely manner for all Units and exceptions reported to BORG, logged in Phoenix and filtered to CORG where applicable
•To assist the compliance team in administering all aspects of CRM, KYC and AML, and in upholding the policies and standards of the Bank (encourage staff to engage in KYC campaign and meet required standard in understanding of frauds and money laundering)
•Assist the Compliance team in providing compliance and regulatory input on the design and restructuring of new products and systems and ensure they conform to local regulatory requirements and internal compliance and ethical standards, and to assist in projects undertaken by the Bank locally or group wide
•Motivate and develop staff to achieve high levels of performance and job satisfaction, through implementation of bank’s processes, objective setting and review, personal development planning, communication, succession and continuity of skills and above all developing the people
•Keep a tested and updated Operations Contingency, to cover equipment, information and staff training needs, in order to provide continuity of operations in the event of shortages, disruption or disaster with appropriate linkage to similar BCP’s in related business units
•Identify operational risks and ensure that appropriate control procedures are in place like: -
-up-to-date maintenance of ORP documentation
-achievement of group and local targets on nostro, central bank and internal account outstandings
•Ensure that the department achieves the agreed service level commitments for the reduction/elimination of customer complaints
Qualifications & Skills
•A sound knowledge of the principles and practice of banking acquired through a professional qualification or an in-depth exposure to such practices over a minimum of 5 years
A high degree of computer literacy and the use of computer applications in banking
Ability to manage and motivate subordinates
