Reporting to the Technical Service Manager we seek to appoint a Chief Mine Surveyor at our Buzwagi Gold Mining operation.
Work roster: 6 Weeks On, 3 Weeks Off
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Develop, implement and monitor survey systems for ensuring the mining department & contractors comply with approved designs and follow standards and procedures.
2. Ensure that survey operations are carried out as per the PML Survey code of practise and at optimum costs.
3. Administer survey control on mining department ensuring development of mine plans according to designs.
4. Plan and organise survey activities so as to ensure they are executed in a manner that minimizes disruption to mine production and development.
5. Implement employee performance management processes to ensure optimum employee performance; identify and remedy substandard performance and behaviour.
6. Provide leadership to the section to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety and environmental standards that exceed industry practice and any applicable legislative provisions.
7. Provide professional leadership and technical support to the section to ensure the creation of a working environment that is conducive to employees gaining new skills and achieving their full potential by the development and implementation of effective training and mentoring programs.
8. Ensure that all activities and processes in Survey are constantly reviewed in accordance with technological changes in both mining and surveying equipment and methods.
9. Participate in the Mine Planning team of PML to ensure that company targets for resource exploitation are achieved.
10. Participate in the PML management team to ensure that targets for resources exploitation, capital management, cost control, safe working, employee development, environmental management and corporate governance are achieved.
11. Provide survey input in preparing the mining Quality Control processes.
12. Authorize survey input in mining instructions.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Education Requirements:
· Degree in Surveying or an equivalent qualification from a recognized higher learning institution.
· Tanzanian Nationals must be Fully Registered Surveyors (FRS) with the National Council of Professional Surveyors (NCPS).
· Non Tanzanian citizens must apply for temporary registration with the NCPS. Such temporary registration must be obtained prior to employment in this capacity.
Experience Requirements:
· Highly skilled in practicing surveying in an open pit mining environment with detailed exposure in an open pit mechanized environment
· Highly experienced in open pit and surface engineering projects.
· High level of computer proficiency in relevant Survey/CAD Packages.
· Meticulous in data acquisition, compilation, computation and presentation so as to meet tight deadlines.
· Skilled to work with both skilled and unskilled labour force and identification of high potential employees.
