DSW seeks to
recruit a Young Adolescents Projects (YAP) Coordinator to be based in Mombasa.
The Project Coordinator will be
supervised by the Team Coordinator Community Work.
The Young Adolescents Project (YAP) Coordinator is
primarily responsible for effective and efficient development,
implementation and monitoring of the Young Adolescents Project (YAP) and
ensures that resources are allocated and used in compliance with contractual
requirements, applicable donor regulations, and appropriate DSW standards and
procedures.
S/He
works in close collaboration with the Country Director, Programme Manager,
Coast Programme Coordinator, the Team Coordinator-Community Work and liaises
with local partners and with DSW’s headquarters regarding any aspects of
project implementation related to YAP.
Areas of responsibility for the position include:
1.Project Coordination, Management and
sustainance
·
Ensure the effective and efficient
implementation, management of the YAP Kenya
·
Work in close cooperation with the Country
Director and with staff assigned to this project to ensure that relevant
information on project management issues is shared with the Kenya Coast
Programme Coordinator, the Team Coordinator Community Work and the
International Team Community Work as required.
·
Ensure high standard co-ordination of the project
·
Develop in close cooperation with the
Programme Manager, Coast Programme
Coordinator and the Team Coordinator
Community Work a strategy for project sustainability
2. Project Planning and development
·
Develop annual, quarter and monthly work plans,
share them with the Kenya Coast Programme Coordinator, the Team Coordinator
Community Work and the International Team Community Work
·
Support facilitation of project planning,
review, and consultative workshops
3. Reporting and Documentation
·
Working with the Programme Manager, ensure that
donor reporting and contract requirements are strictly followed and timelines
are observed
·
Prepare timely quarterly narrative and progress
reports
·
Initiate and support the production of
publications based on the identified best practices, experiences and research
undertaken during project implementation
4. Partnerships, Communication and
Representation
·
Working closely with the Country Director,
establish and maintain contacts with national and international partners and
donors and document contact details;
·
Ensure effective communication on project
progress and outputs throughout all DSW offices/ teams via DSW list serves and
any other available channel
·
Spearhead the dissemination of project best practices, experiences and research
undertaken to national and international partners
5. Budget development and management
·
Work in close collaboration with Kenya Coast
Programme Coordinator and the Team Coordinator Finance to ensure budgets are
followed;
·
Prepare TORs for external consultants
subcontracted for this project and supervise their high standard of work;
6.Monitoring and Evaluation
In consultation with
Team Coordinator, Evaluation and Research, ensure development of appropriate
project monitoring tools and evaluation systems and ensure effective monitoring
is conducted and that impact of project interventions is measured and
documented;
Other tasks
·
Acts as the central point of contact for
all Project issues for the YAP.
·
Any other task
as assigned
Minimum Requirements
·
Degree from recognized University in
Social Sciences, Public Health, Communication, Information or Development
Studies. Those with higher qualifications have an added advantage
·
Experience in Advocacy, Community work
particularly in the field of population and Sexual Reproductive Health
·
Minimum of 5 years progressive
experience in a similar position in a busy organization/Project is desired
·
Excellent Report writing skills
·
Spoken and written skills in English and
Kiswahili languages
