3 years experience working with a National or an International NGO in a managerial role or progressively experienced role Previous experience working for NGOs in violence against children and violence against women in a humanitarian context Experience in managing finances Experience of report writing Experience in managing large protection programs and large numbers of staff members Experience in capacity building, training and in using participatory learning activities as a facilitator Diplomatic and effective communicator at all levels Willingness to travel to remote areas Very enthusiastic and able to work long hours to achieve the objectives of the programme Ability to work in an international or multicultural environment Fluency in English (spoken and written) Good IT skills (excellent use of excel)

WORK CONTEXT
CESVI is currently implementing a Child Protection Program which incorporates elements of GBV in North Eastern Kenya. Working with Somali refugees and the pastoralist Kenyan community. Both groups are recovering from the ongoing drought and from violent clashes. The program: - works with the community to provide appropriate support services for child survivors of abuse through training and strengthening of referral mechanisms - uses participatory methodology within the community to create awareness messages and peer education groups to promote behavior change towards issues of child protection - creates and supports Safe Space Centres for Women and Children - works with the health care system to train health professionals in Clinical Management of Rape and Caring for Child Survivors - responds to emergencies in North Eastern Kenya - uses monitoring and evaluation tools to ensure that services and programming for women and children are timely and that the guiding principles of case management are adhered to - provides support to vulnerable children who have crossed the border including referral to FTR services

JOB DESCRIPTION
The collaboration will start by the 1st of February 2013. The overall objective of this position is to implement the child protection and GBV program in North Eastern Kenya. S/he will not only implement this program, but will also provide key technical support on the area of response to CESVI's partners and community actors. S/he will know key child protection and GBV actors in Kenya, understand the legal framework and identify gaps in services. S/he will be dedicated to ending child abuse and have direct experience in working with child and adult survivors of GBV. S/he will be supported by experienced CESVI staff. This position is 80% based in the field and so the right person for this position must be comfortable with spending long periods of time in isolated locations. Key responsibilities: - train and mentor child protection committees in psychosocial first aid, clinical management of rape, caring for child survivors and other response approaches - attend local Child Protection and GBV Working Group meetings and report pertinent information to the Regional Protection Technical Advisor - take part in the Child Protection Emergency response team and travel to emergencies as and when necessary in North Eastern Kenya - create a team of community case manager volunteers - use his/her knowledge and background as a social worker to train and mentor social workers working with children - ensure accurate data collection, reporting and analysis from program activities - produce periodic official reports according to project deadlines and donor-related requests, to be submitted to the Regional Protection Technical Advisor - supervise administration, accounting, procurement issues relating to the program - carry-out any other duties and/or responsibilities assigned by the Regional Protection Technical Advisor - ensure all staff members are fully trained and work well together as a team
