FSD Kenya’s GrowthCap Project is a unique and innovative new
initiative designed to build capacity within Kenya’s SME financial
services community through the provision of focussed support to a select
group of financial institutions. This will enable them to promote
SME-centred products and services based on international best practice;
and maximize their commercial performance in a market sector that is
accepted as being crucial for future profitability and growth. It is
anticipated that GrowthCap will run for a minimum period of three years.
To build capacity both within partner institutions and the local service provider community, GrowthCap is committed to building a discreet database of preferred consultants who are well qualified to undertake assignments in a variety of areas.
Accordingly, GrowthCap seeks project partners who have expertise in:
1. Developing a Strategic Platform for SME Banking Excellence
2. Change Management within a banking environment
3. SME Market Research & Segmentation
4. SME Product Design, Development, Implementation & Monitoring
5. SME Credit Management Processes
6. Understanding the SME Customer (to include Portfolio & Relationship Management Skills Development.)
Expressions of interest should include;
• A covering letter indicating which of the 6 areas the consultant is able to provide support to GrowthCap; details of expertise and previous experience in these areas; and why the GrowthCap project is of interest.
• A wider capability statement of the firm and individual consultant(s). This should clearly articulate the range of related projects undertaken, the delivery mechanisms used, as well as the outcomes achieved.
• Curriculum Vitae of all proposed individuals indicating 3-5 years of relevant experience in the specified area.
• Expected (firm or individual) daily rate in US dollars.

Working in partnership with the financial services industry the programme’s goal is to significantly expand access to lower income households and smaller scale businesses. It is supported by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Finance, UK’s Department for International Development, Swedish International Development Agency, the World Bank and Agence Francaise de Developpement.
