The Clemson University Department of Automotive Engineering invites applications for the BMW Endowed Chair in Automotive Manufacturing. This endowed chair is part of the State of South Carolina’s Smart State Program (see
www.smartstatesc.org) and is one of the most prestigious chairs in the United States. It is a high profile position with great opportunity to interact with the top echelons of industry, academia, and government. Targeted areas of research expertise include but are not limited to advanced manufacturing systems, assembly technologies, automation, process control, sustainable manufacturing and lightweight materials processing.
The Automotive Engineering Department at CU-ICAR offers unique MS and Ph.D. graduate degrees in automotive engineering emphasizing product development and vehicle systems integration. The Department currently has fifteen faculty including three endowed chairs. The program is housed in a dedicated state-of-the-art facility, the Carroll A. Campbell Jr. Graduate Engineering Center, which is located at the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR) in Greenville, South Carolina. Faculty and students have access to full-scale automotive test equipment, one of the nation’s top academic high speed computing facilities, and advanced materials testing laboratories.
