The United Nations Volunteers is the UN organization that supports sustainable human development globally through the promotion of volunteerism, including the mobilization of volunteers. It serves the causes of peace and development through enhancing opportunities for participation by all peoples. UNV volunteers promote volunteerism through their action and conduct; engaging in volunteer activity can effectively and positively enrich your understanding of local and social realities; create a bridge between volunteer and the people in his/her host community. This is why the UNAIDS Office in Tanzania is proposing to have, in Zanzibar, a coordination officer (UNV) who will provide support the Joint UN Team on AIDS with regard to coordination, follow up and implementation of Team with ZAC and various implementing partners. The UNV will work mainly through the Joint UN Team and ZAC the Joint UN Programme work plans. S/he will be responsible for the day-to-day relationship of the Joint UN.
