MINE PRODUCTION MANAGER
Reporting to the Mine General Manger we seek to appoint a Mine Production Manager at our Bulyanhulu gold mining operation in Tanzania. The successful applicant will be responsible for the total underground mining operation, including but not limited to mechanized development, mechanized and conventional stoping as well as the required logistical activities for the entire operation.
The role involves working as a member of the management team with three mining managers reporting in to the Mine Production Manager. You will be required to work closely with the Engineering Manager to execute the mining plan.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Reporting to the GM and as part of the site leadership team, the incumbent will focus on ensuring support for the operations, creating a culture of on-going process improvement and increasing plant throughput.
• Provide direct management of the site operations including mining, processing, maintenance.
• Ensures site strategies are concretely linked to the organizations long term strategy.
• Develop and execute short and intermediate term strategies that support growth of the operation.
• Lead execution of strategies in the mine in order to enhance current operations practices and performance.
• Set priorities and allocate resources.
• Assist the GM in formulating the annual operating and capital budgets for the mine consistent with the company’s established financial guidelines and business planning process.
• Participate with other senior staff to set production goals.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification
• Graduate studies in business desired.
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of ten years experience at a senior managerial level with general oversight of an underground mining operation.
• Understands all relevant international, regional, local laws, statutes, regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry.
• Proven ability to build and lead a team of mining professionals in planning and operating an underground operation safely and effectively.
• Technically adept and skilled in mechanized mine development and bulk mining methodologies.
• Ability to operate at all required levels of management and to lead a diverse group of employees from a variety of different nationalities as well as different cultural and religious groups.
• Proven ability to empower local employees and to build capacity to enable the organization to localize key managerial positions in the short to medium term.
• Proven ability and track record in turning around a poor safety culture and performance on a complex operation and instilling discipline with regards health and safety management as well as establishing a positive safety culture. .
