Background
|
The Office of Audit and Investigations (OAI) reports to the Administrator and is responsible for internal audit and investigation services to UNDP and its affiliated entities. OAI provides independent, objective assurance on the effectiveness of risk management and the effectiveness and adequacy of internal controls.
OAI has a decentralized organizational structure, with the Directorate, the Investigations Section, the Headquarters Audit Section and Special Assignments Section located at Headquarters and five Regional Audit Centres located in the regions covered by UNDP.

Duties and Responsibilities
|
Summary of Key Functions:
- Implements appropriate steps to maintain optimal performance of information and communication technology (ICT) resources in New York
- Provides general ICT hardware and software support and troubleshooting to OAI staff in New York
- Supports and maintains OAI applications such as the Comprehensive Audit and Recommendations Database (CARDS), the electronic audit work papers system GRC and the time sheet system.
- Serves as Asset Focal Point for OAI
Key Tasks
- Under the supervision of the Operations Manager and the Deputy Director (Audit), the IT Associate-Operations:
- Provides ICT technical support and troubleshooting to OAI users at headquarters
- Provides advice on maintenance of equipment and acquisition of hardware supplies, making routine repairs and change of hardware equipment.
- Manages and maintains OAI ICT equipment in New York
- Maintains contact and coordination with OIST to remain up-to-date, to ensure adherence to UNDP ICT policies and procedures and to implement latest changes or improvements in UNDP Internet technology and infrastructure
- Ensures proper maintenance of e-mail accounts of OAI users
- Provides timely and effective maintenance and support to users of OAI applications, e.g. the Comprehensive Audit and Recommendations Database (CARDS), the electronic audit work papers system GRC and the time sheet system
- Identifies, implements and promotes different systems and applications for optimal content management and, knowledge management and sharing
- Implements and maintains back-up and restoration solutions
- Administers and monitors OAI’s shared drives in New York to ensure stable and responsive environment
- Identifies, develops, implements and maintains OAI Intranet and SharePoint spaces to facilitate information and knowledge sharing among OAI staff as well as between OAI and its internal clients
- Continuously develops and broadens IT technical skills through learning and training
- Maintains an up-to-date inventory of the software and hardware
- Serves as Asset Focal Point for OAI in Atlas and ensures a proper maintenance of the assets register in accordance with UNDP policies and procedures
Client Services
- Maintains cordial and effective relations with the Office of Information Systems and Technology (OIST)
- Maintains effective relations with OAI Regional Audit Centres (a total of 5) and provides them pertinent and timely IT guidance and advice
- Other Tasks
- Contributes to the ongoing development of IT practices in OAI
- Participates in the implementation of his/her personal learning and training development plan.
- Maintains close coordination with and, occasionally, serves as alternate to the IT Associate (forensic) either in his/her absence or during periods of heavy workload. Assess and troubleshoot technical issues related to investigations
- Performs other assignments or tasks as determined by the Operations Manager and/or the Deputy Director (Audit).

Required Skills and Experience
|
Education:
- Secondary Education. University Degree in Computer Science desirable, but it is not a requirement. Cisco Certified Network Engineer (CCNE) or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) required. If certification is not available at the time of recruitment, it should be obtained within 6 months.
Experience:
- Seven years of working experience in information and communication technology focused on systems and web maintenance and support is required. Proven experience in Microsoft SharePoint is highly desirable.
- Working experience in Java is desirable.
- Working experience in HTML, XML, PHP and/or ASP is an advantage.
Language requirement:
- Fluency in English is required
- Knowledge of French or Spanish is an advantage
