Job Description
- Be a key team member and often leader of Organisational Development work with CSOs and donors:
- Lead, or be a key team member on, organisational development work with local and central government;
- Lead, or be a key team member on, public financial management assignments;
- Lead proposal-writing for organisational development and public financial management opportunities;
- Lead, or support, presentation of reports to donors, CSOs, CBOs and others; and
- Lead, or support, the development of relevant thought leadership work.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Bachelors degree from a reputable university, and relevant masters degree desirable;
- Minimum of 4-7 years work experience in a reputable professional services firm, ideally in Advisory / Management Consultancy, but with a financial / audit background (preferably amongst the Big Four, or strong candidates from Second Tier professional services firms welcomed);
- Either of the following professional qualifications: CPA or ACCA;
- Experience of working with donors, civil society organisations or governments, particularly in supporting organisational development, and in particular with a focus on improving financial management;
- Experience of working on donor funded health projects; and
- Additional qualifications including qualifications in CISA, CIA, CFA and IMIS, Managing Successful Programmes, Prince II are an added advantage.
- Understands and appreciates core tenets of organisational development;
- Understands key aspects of the financial and procurement cycles including from a risks and controls perspective, and have competency in cash-flow, budgeting, income and expenditure analysis and reporting;
- Be conversant in the key components of the project management cycle, ideally including strategic planning and monitoring & evaluation;
- Strong workshop facilitation skills;
- Strong communications skills - liaising with clients, management and staff, in person, by phone or in writing;
- Excellent proposal-writing and presentation skills;
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet deadlines and resolve conflicting demands;
- Ability to lead a team and to work as a member of a team sharing knowledge and providing guidance and technical advice where necessary;
- Well developed problem solving abilities and strong analytical skills;
- Willingness to travel, including willingness to be based in regional project-teams - currently particularly seeking individuals willing to be based in Eldoret, Kisumu or Mombasa;
- Experience in Local or Central Government; and
- Socially confident and able to create a strong presence with clients and the KPMG team, and generate business through relationship selling.

The IDAS unit focuses on understanding clients' organisations and operations, and supporting them in delivering their development programmes. The core of our work is in advisory and audit assignments for donors, for example providing grant management services, supporting the development and operationalisation of Private Sector Development and Governance enhancement programmes, and supporting the development and performance of donor and civil society organisations. We also provide audit and assurance services for many donor and civil society organisations.
