The Embassy of the United States of America in Kigali is recruiting for the position of
Facilities Management Administrative Assistant.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
S/He will provide administrative assistance to the Facilities Manager / Facilities Management New Embassy Compound (NEC) and General Services (GSO) Housing Sections in support of procurement actions, tools and material inventory, scheduling of work orders and emergency repairs, follow-up on work orders with Americans to see if the work orders were completed properly, submission of progress reports, and other administrative actions as required. Specific responsibilities may vary depending on the interest and direction of the FM maintenance and repair efforts, current and future Facilities needs and plans. Must be able to obtain a secret level security clearance.

QUALIFICATIONS
All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item
- Two years of technical training or post-secondary education in managerial operations such as administrative management, financial management, logistical operations, procurement, contracting, engineering, construction management, or a related field required.
- At least two years administrative experience in an office environment required
- Level IV written and spoken English required
- General knowledge of Department of State and other agency operations, organizational structure of U.S. Embassy, familiarity with local conditions, customs and practices, required.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to prioritize high volume of administrative tasks; ability to use a variety of computer software such as MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel and other database programs, possession of valid driver’s license, required.
SELECTION PROCESS
When equally qualified, US Citizen Eligible Family Members (AEFMs) and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that in the application the candidate fully address the required qualifications above.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Currently employed US Citizens EFMs who hold a FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
4. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
