REPORT TO HSE&C Manager
EMPLOYEES WHO DIRECTLY REPORT Environmental Officer
QUALIFICATIONS Undergraduate or post graduate relevant science or engineering degree.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience with at least 3 years in the mining industry.
Working knowledge of ISO14001 Environmental Management System processes.
Able to show initiative and take responsibility for environmental programmes on site.
Experience in managing and training staff.
Experience in water quality sampling procedures and data manipulation.
Experience in waste management initiatives and practices.
Experience with mine site rehabilitation programs.
Experience in conducting induction and other training programs.
A high level of competency in the use of computer software.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in Kiswahili and English.
Current Tanzanian driver’s licence.
Be physically fit and be able to pass pre-employment and medical examinations.
RESPONSIBILITIES Primary focus is to coordinate environmental programs at the New Luika Mine to a standard that is compatible with international practice and undertaken in a timely and cost effective way.
Promote environment through the workforce by developing and implementing systems that can be accessed and utilised across all Departments.
Undertake tasks as directed by the HSE&C Manager.
DUTIES Manage all environmental staff and build skills and knowledge within the team.
Assist in the recruitment of personnel where needs are identified.
Conduct training and develop and implement environmental training programs across the site where a need is identified.
Develop and maintain environmental monitoring programs across the site.
Develop and implement environmental management system compatible with the requirements of ISO 140001.
Proactively identify issues as they arise and identify solutions.
Identify and manage research opportunities and partnerships that will lead to better performance as required.
Liaise with senior staff in other Departments to ensure they are aligned with the environmental objectives.
Other duties as required
