About Global Platforms
To meet the new challenges of the 21st Century we need to foster a new generation of skilled and ambitious global citizens to take active part in shaping the future in a democratic and fair direction.
As a response to this and as part of the development approach of thinking globally and acting locally, the nongovernmental organization ActionAid Denmark has established a series of Global Platforms in four different continents. So far, Global Platform training centres are placed in El Salvador, Tanzania, Kenya, Denmark, Nepal, Myanmar and Jordan. The name refers to a platform for innovative training, knowledge sharing, research, reflection and development of best practices in global activism, voluntarism, solidarity and citizenship in order to motivate youth to be active global participants.
Global Platforms: The place where social change is organized
People need a space to gather and facilitate solutions to global problems and challenges. Such a space is provided at the Global Platforms. Besides being training centers, the Global Platforms are also meeting points and are open, green and innovative.
Global Platforms (GPs) are a part of AADK's Capacity Building Centre. We are about 50 trainers and managers worldwide and we train about 4000 NGOs’ professionals and volunteers.
Each Global Platform is leaded by a platform manager and composed by about 10 staff – Danish and local facilitators as well as support staff.
