The Madrasa Early Childhood Programme Zanzibar (MECP-Z), formally Zanzibar Madrasa Resource Centre, is an Early Childhood Development (ECD) organisation supported by the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF). MECP-Z has been Implementing ECD programmes III Zanzibar For over the last 23 years.MECP-Z received full registration as a pre-primary Teacher Training Institute and will partner with the government and Dubai Cares over the next four years to implement an innovative project that will improve access to and quality of pre-primary education in Zanzibar. One of the major components of theprogramme is professional development of pre-primary teachers from community, private, and Government preschools. MECP-Z IS looking For a well-qualified, dynamic, and competent candidate for the position of Academic Manger (AM) to be positioned III Unguja, Zanzibar.
Key responsibilities Include, but not limited to:
Manage the Teacher Trainmg Institute including the development and delivery of teacher training courses, and budgets
Coordinate all academic activities across Unguja and Pemba and the delivery of quality professional development courses
Lead in developing and reviewing all MECP-Z curricula
Support grant management of the Dubai Cares grant, including budget, reporting, and donor compliance
Develop and operationalise a plan for professional development of faculty members of the Teacher Training Institute
Manage Teacher Training Faculty members in line with MECP-Z's performance management framework
Develop annual and quarterly programme work plans and support staff to develop their own personal work plans
Support the design and implementation of M&E tools related to professional development of educators to inform programme delivery
Manage all TTI and student teacher records
Liaise with relevant authorities in the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training to maintain TTIstatus, curricula relevance. and to influence policy and practice
Create linkages with MECPs professional development teams in Kenya and Uganda for regional synergies and coordination.
Qualifications and experiences:
Masters' degree from an accredited University in Education specializing In curriculum development and or teacher training.
A minimum of 7 years' experience in programme development, Implementation, and monitoring of the academic programmes
Experience in developing curricula
Proven experience of managing large development grants
Experience in teaching in Teacher Training Colleges or higher institutions
Have a proven knowledge and experience of work 109 m the pre-primary education sector
Strong verbal and written communication in English and Kiswahili.
Possess strong team building skills, innovative thinking and able to work interdependently
Good interpersonal skills and analytical skills.
Must be computer literate 10 Ms Word. Excel and Power Point.
