Cluster Head of Credit Initiation- Retail Banking Products
Job Description
1. Integration of Group CB (Consumer Banking) Credit Policy/Standards with business strategy/plans and ensuring appropriate credit culture/training and adherence to the same;2. Monitoring and reporting of CB Retail Lending portfolio trends and credit performance;
3. Helping establish professional credit structures, processes and credit culture for CB Retail Lending.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Implement CB (Consumer Banking) Credit Policy/Standards, approval processes and monitoring of the CB Retail Lending portfolio;
2. Pro-actively align Cluster CB Retail Lending credit policy to Consumer Banking Group Credit Policy/Standards.
3. Responsible for ensuring team processes new lending applications in compliance with laid out policies and report trends and issues requiring corrective actions.
4. Ensure all applications are processed within benchmarked turnaround times and optimum productivity levels.
5. Continuous interaction with underwriting officers in order to fulfill the underwriting requirements – by way of time taken, adherence to service norms and most importantly quality of work.
6. Interaction with other functions - service quality, sales team, operations and collections to ensure quality bookings, customer service, data accuracy and audit controls.
7. Responsible for ensuring Credit Initiation Unit (CI) costs are within budgeted benchmarks and demonstrate cost control through productivity initiatives.
8. Responsible for system enhancement and support from CI side.
9. Responsible for projects assigned from time to time.
10. Monitor legal and regulatory developments that impact risk and lending processes and ensure CI compliance with local legal and regulatory requirements.
11. Monitor local and national economic indicators as they affect lending processes.
12. Provide leadership, coaching and support through participating in the setting of objectives, managing performance, identifying development needs and motivating the Credit Intiation staff.
13. Implement and ensure effective controls in place over the credit process to ensure a robust control environment.
Qualifications & Skills
1. High level of people management skills since the job entails managing of a team of credit underwriters who interact regularly with Sales, Credit Policy, Products and Collections teams for feedback and resolving risks which affect service levels.
2. Excellent knowledge of all Consumer Banking products and Credit acquired through at least 5 years experience in CB &/or WB (Wholesale Banking) Credit.
3. Excellent knowledge of SCB (Standard Chartered Bank) procedures and policies as well as banking practices and regulations.
4. Excellent communication skills in English.
5. Very good analytical skills to analyse
6. A university degree plus other related management and credit training and or professional Banking or Accountancy qualification.
