Sr. Budget Analyst Danya International - Kenya
SUMMARY SCOPE OF WORK:
Under the supervision of the VP, Africa Programs, the Senior Financial/Budget Analyst will be responsible for ensuring appropriate systems and procedures are followed to properly account, budget, disburse and report internal and project funds in detail oriented and timely manner that comply with Danya International’s internal control as well as donor financial rules and regulations. This position will also be responsible for developing regular board of director’s financial projections, summaries and graphics, and improving and streamlining financial systems, policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, maintain and report all expense-related data, update financial forecasts, and performance metrics; ensure consistent and correct application of budget guidelines, working closely with Vice President as well as with corporate Accounting/Finance to monitor the submission, processing, and disposition of expenditure requests
- Ensures appropriate expenditures per line item for budgets including contracts are monitored monthly and reports are prepared to maintain up to date accounts;
- Provide training to project managers on projections vs actual spending utilizing Danya’s spend plans and other related project budget tracking/monitoring tools
- Provides support on cost proposals and annual budget preparation;
- Submits recommendations for process improvements to the Vice President; and assist in the development of budget presentations and associated materials
- Utilize the Deltek Costpoint Project Summary Reports (PSRs) to update each project budget
- Monitoring and forecasting the firm’s cash-flow and ensuring efficient working capital management in liaison with the Vice President
- Participate in improving and maintaining project financial management systems.
- Assist the technical team in developing work plan assumptions for budgeting. Developing and revising budgets for assigned portfolio in consultation with the Project Director and Vice President
- Assisting the project staff in activity implementation, particularly in efficient liquidation and reporting of advances and in preparing accurate activity specific estimated budgets
- Assisting in reviewing of project financial documents to ensuring accurate coding of expenses.
- Prepare senior management accounting reports accurately and timely.
- Coordination of annual audits with external auditors and preparing audit schedules as required
- Closely work with our current our accounting firm to ensure accurate payroll and invoice payments
- Understand the business and specific operations that generate payroll data, tracking and reporting payroll inputs and outputs
- Preparation of monthly payroll related statutory returns assuring compliance to all monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, payments and submission deadlines
Desired Skills & Experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 6+ years of experience or an compatible combination of education and experience. Degree preference in Finance, Accounting or Business management with at least CPA Part II.
- At least six (6) years relevant working experience in Accounting/financial analysis and management.
- Project budget management experience and accounting familiarity
- Advanced spreadsheet skills with hands on experience with accounting or business information systems software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with international donors such as USAID, CDC, DFID or comparable United States Government regulatory environment and compliance requirements will be an added advantage.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, ability to assess priorities, handle a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment, and able to meet competing deadlines with great attention to detail and quality.
