The US Embassy is seeking an individual for the position of Mail Clerk in the Information Program Center.

Handle incoming and outgoing mail in accordance with current policy and directive. Produce copies and printing work for the Embassy.

Assists in the preparation, documentation and dispatch of all outgoing air pouches. Incumbent will be required to drive to dispatch and collect mail from airport and post office.

Clears incoming air and surface pouches through customs, assists in the opening, controlling registered items, distribution of contents and file airway bills, invoices and pouch invoices. Sorts incoming mail and registered items and performs security inspections.

Operates duplicating machine, routes and distributes the end product. Send/receive and document faxes.

Periodically assist in the reproduction room and receptionist role.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

- Education: Completion of Secondary school (form IV) required.
- Prior experience: One year of mail handling document reproduction and company switchboard experience required.
- Post Entry Training: Three months on the job training.
- Language proficiency: Level III (good working knowledge) in English and level IV in Kiswahili (speaking, reading and writing) is required.
- Knowledge: A good working knowledge of agency mail and file systems and procedures is required. Knowledge of local and U.S. postal regulations desirable. Good working knowledge of operating various types of photocopying machines.
- Skills and Abilities: Basic Computer Skills and drivers license class "C" required.
