TITLE : Geothermal Geology Expert For Geothermal Energy Development In Rwanda
The Government of Rwanda has received financing from the World Bank/Global Environmental Facility Trust Fund and intends to develop the Geothermal Energy Sector in Rwanda. The proposed expertise should support the Ministry of Infrastructure (MININFRA) and the newly formed Electricity, Water and Sanitation Authority (EWSA), in the exploration and development of 300 MWe from geothermal resources by 2017. The immediate goal is to establish the viability of geothermal resources by drilling three exploration wells in one of the geothermal prospects. The estimated time of the assignment of the individual consultant is 1 year renewable on a full time based in Kigali-Rwanda. The successful candidate shall sign a one year renewable contract subject to performance.
The Energy, Water and Sanitation Authority (EWSA) now invite eligible consultants/experts to indicate their interest in providing the services. The required education for the assignment is a University degree in Geology and a Master's degree in the same field. Post graduate training in geothermal technology should be an added advantage.
Interested individual consultants/experts should have a minimum of 8 years work experience in geothermal geology during exploration and development. Extensive experience in geothermal technology research, alteration mineralogy, well logging, location of high production wells and proven track record of delivering geothermal surface exploration on time and budget are highly desirable. The candidate should demonstrate knowledge of power sector, regulation and reform, energy policy and financial issues in developing countries as well as good understanding of geothermal development issues and strategy with a strong ability to define, plan, communicate, defend and implement strategy.
Interested consultants/experts must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the mentioned consultancy services.
A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank's Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (current edition).
