DanChurchAid (DCA) is currently seeking an Armed Violence Reduction (AVR) Project Coordinator for a new Humanitarian Mine Action programme based in Juba, South Sudan. DCA is offering a job that will make a significant difference and improve the lives of people living at risk from Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) and Armed Violence and assist in the reconstruction of societies after conflict. DCA has been working in South Sudan for several years implementing livelihood and emergency relief projects. DCA is expanding the activities in South Sudan to include Humanitarian Mine Action and Armed Violence Reduction programmes.
The AVR Project Coordinator will refer to the HMA Programme Manager (PM) and also work in close cooperation with the Senior Technical Adviser who will have supervisory responsibilities over the national staff while deployed to the field. The AVR project Manager will form an essential part of DCA’s new Humanitarian Mine Action team based in South Sudan. The role will be an important one, developing the programme, providing essential oversight and management of the AVR team. She/he will have three main areas of responsibility: Risk Education (RE), AVR survey data activities Socio-economic impact assessments. Basic to all three is the identified need for managing data as well as providing training and supervision of the national staff delegated to carry out the related tasks.
The AVR Project Coordinator will have the following overall main responsibilities:
Technical • Assist in the recruitment of and be responsible for training of an RE/AVR team in South Sudan, to deploy in support of DCA’s HMA programme in coordination with the Senior Technical Advisor (STA) • To assist and manage the RE/AVR team in delivering targeted RE sessions to vulnerable populations in South Sudan in coordination with the Senior Technical Advisor (STA) • To develop RE materials, in accordance with existing international operators and the UNMACC, to ensure consistent and culturally appropriate messaging • To develop and implement M&E on all activities to ensure that DCA’s RE/AVR project remains effective. • To develop and conduct a baseline survey on AVR to provide initial data on the scale and type of issues affecting South Sudan • To compile regular reports and inputs for programme documents based on the AVR data collected, as directed by the PM, to assist with programme development and fundraising • Ensure that pre and post clearance impact assessments are carried out to a high quality so that the data generated can be manipulated into appropriate, accessible formats.
Reporting • Develop a programme-specific database for storing and managing data collected by the DCA teams which is fit for purpose. This will include managing data collected for RE, AVR impact assessment and EOD/Survey activities • Producing daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly reports in appropriate formats as required by the PM, HQ and other programme staff • Focal point for all information and data management within the South Sudan HMA programme
Qualifications required:
• Developing data management systems • Management of national staff in a similar environment • Understanding of the key purpose and messages related to RE in a Humanitarian Mine Action context • Experience in developing and carrying out KABP surveys • Writing high quality reports which meet donor standards • Familiar with current themes and issues pertaining to AVR • Developing a baseline survey to collect AVR or similar data
