We seek qualified candidates for the position of Project Director, Uganda Health Communication Program in Kampala, Uganda.
Position Description:
Provide overall technical and management leadership to the design and implementation of a USAID-funded, 5-year, multi-million dollar health communication program in Uganda. Position will be based in Kampala. Availability of position is contingent upon issuance of a USAID Request for Applications (RFA)/Request for proposals (RFP), and selection of final applicant is subject to USAID approval.
The Project Director, Uganda Health Communication Program will: Ensure an integrated vision for the project, and a focus on achieving the results defined in the contract. Oversees the successful achievement of the entire project, objectives, deliverables, and impact. Act as the key liaison between USAID/Uganda and all other counterparts, implementing partners and Government of Uganda officials involved with the program. Oversees all project-to-USAID communication, contract reporting, work planning. Supervises technical and finance/admin teams.
Minimal Requirements: PhD or similar degree with 7-9 or more years of experience designing and managing health communication programs; and/or Master’s degree required in one of the following or related fields: International Communication, Social and Behavior Change Communication, Social Marketing , Development Studies, Public Health, and Social Science with 10 or more years of relevant experience in health communication programming; or An equivalent combination of education and experience; Demonstrated management experience leading multi-million dollar USAID-funded projects; Applied knowledge of public health, behavior change and communication in national or state-level donor projects in Uganda; Program management and implementation experience in Uganda; and A solid understanding and appreciation of USAID and USAID project processes, procedures, rules and regulations. Strong written and verbal communication skills; Strong intercultural supervisory and team building skills and experience Ability to work independently with initiative to manage high volume work flow; Relevant computer software skills (including, at a minimum, the standard applications in MS Office).
