Program Management Officer Kenya Red Cross Society

This highly diverse management role will see you working across a range of food security projects that will benefit over 10,000 households. You will also help recruit and coordinate local volunteers to implement these projects.

 

This is a volunteer assignment under the Australian Volunteers for International Development (AVID) program, an Australian Government, AusAID initiative. Airfares, living allowances, accommodation, insurance and other support is provided through the program.

Background information

With over 70,000 registered volunteers, Kenya Red Cross plays a lead role in emergency response, disaster preparedness, health service delivery and blood donor recruitment across the country.

 

The Red Cross branch in Makueni is located in a semi-arid region that faces ongoing food shortages. The branch is trialling water and sanitation, nutrition and irrigation projects, as well as piloting a Food for Assets scheme that involves 10,000 households.

 

An AVID volunteer with program management experience is being sought to assist the branch in three key areas: management and administrative systems; support with its program portfolio; and the expansion of its youth volunteer base.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Experience in program management
• Experience in staff or volunteer management
• Qualifications in social sciences or a related field
• Self awareness, cultural sensitivity, flexibility and adaptability, resilience

 

To be eligible, applicants must be 18 years and over, Australian citizens or permanent residents, or New Zealand citizens with Special Category Visas.
