We are seeking a dynamic, innovative and self-motivated scientist for the position of Farming System Agronomist. The selected candidate will have excellent skills in plant and soil science to design and evaluate innovative cropping systems combining high productivity with minimum negative consequences for the environment. The scientist will work as a member of CIMMYT’s Global Conservation Agriculture Program (CIMMYT-GCAP), and will play a key role in a large multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional team.
The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center, known by its Spanish acronym, CIMMYT®, is a not-for-profit research and training organization with partners in over 100 countries.
The position will be based in Ethiopia, but will interact with all CIMMYT´s experimental stations and regional office (country and world-wide), as well as with other advanced research institutes, national research and extension programs, national universities, NGOs, private sector stakeholders. He/she will also work closely with other CIMMYT’s teams in Eastern Africa. He/she will be responsible for designing and evaluating innovative cropping systems on-station and on-farm, in participation with farmers and other stakeholders.
