Childreach International is a grassroots charity organisation. We work in partnership with Government Primary Schools and local communities in Tanzania to help improve children’s access to healthcare, education and child rights and protection.
We are looking to recruit a Programmes Manager to lead our Programmes department, including research and identification of new projects, conducting needs assessment, networking with stakeholders, overseeing the implementation and monitoring of all projects, reporting, institutional fundraising, capacity building of Programmes team and evaluation of programmes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· To lead the identification of new projects, carry out needs assessment, due diligence and conduct community sensitization
· To lead the development of project proposals and budgets, and support partners to do the same
· To participate in formulating criteria for identifying and supporting project
· To supervise and monitor ongoing projects, ensure appropriate documentation is kept, and that activities are accomplished on time and to the desired quality and quantity.
· To maintain strong relationships with project partners and government officials, offering advice and technical support as required
· To develop and submit funding applications to Institutional donors, securing at least one institutional grant per year
· Orient and mentor programmes staff members
· To supervise and provide leadership to programmes team, help them to develop and share best practice experiences and ensure that the programmes team has up to date information about national guidelines, policies and protocols relating to Childreach International projects
· To line manage 4 members of the Programmes team
· Take part in conducting performance appraisal for Programmes team
· To prepare programmes’ narrative and financial reports quarterly, and on adhoc basis when required, and to support partners to do the same
· Be conversant with agreed programmes implementation plans, monitoring and evaluation standards and tools
· To take part in the preparation of CI’s Country Strategy Papers
· To act as a liaison between Childreach International and the community
· To actively network with like-minded organisations, and other stakeholders in the development sector and seek to inform and influence policy
· To liaise with programme managers in other Childreach International offices to share ideas and contribute to organizational development
· To perform any other relevant duties as assigned by Line Manager
Person Specification:
· A degree in International Development, Community Development or related field
· At least 5 years of experience in Project Management
· Proven evidence of having successfully secured institutional grants
· Experience in designing projects from scratch
· Understanding of rights-based programming
· Proven experience of conducting needs assessments and evaluations
· Knowledge of International Development issues
· Excellent communication and report-writing skills
· Experience leading and working with dynamic teams
· Willingness to work in rural and remote areas
· Good presentation skills
· Good team player with self-motivation and an appetite to succeed coupled with the willingness, readiness and ability to support colleagues
· Experience in Child Rights and Protection projects will be an added advantage
· Confidence, ability to engage with children and officials alike, enthusiasm and a strong sense of best practice
