The Orphaned and Separated Children’s Assessments Related (OSCAR) to their Health and Well-Being Project is a 5 year cohort study examining the influence of care environment on the health and well-being of orphaned and separated children in greater Uasin Gishu region.

Role: Be responsible for conducting psychosocial assessments and delivering interventions for the project. These shall include standardized assessments of children’s psychosocial health and family history, and providing referrals and support as required.
Duties and responsibilities
Reporting to Principal Investigators of the OSCAR project at the AMPATH Centre in Eldoret, the successful candidate will implement psychosocial assessments for OSCAR participants at both the MTRH site and in the field.

Duties and responsibilities
Reporting to Principal Investigators of the OSCAR project at the AMPATH Centre in Eldoret, the successful candidate will implement psychosocial assessments for OSCAR participants at both the MTRH site and in the field.
This will include the following:
- Carry out psychosocial assessments at the MTRH/field site and any other site as may be directed.
- Co-ordinate and implement all project-related psychosocial services at MTRH and field sites.
- Provide referrals for psychiatric and other medical care as appropriate.
- Promote efficiency and high standards of psychological care.
- Develop intervention programs and activities that improve psychological care in the respective sites.
- Manage resources for optimum operations within the sites.
- Participate in the professional guidance and training of staff to ensure highest standards of healthcare at the sites.
- Ensure Quality Assurance and Control both in data collection and Good Clinical Practices.
- Supervision of staff and handling internal clinic processes.
- Any other duties as may be assigned.

- Masters degree in clinical psychology from a recognized university.
- Have done significant work in paediatrics, psychiatry, and adolescent care in the recent past.
- Excellent verbal communication skills in Kiswahili and English.
- Demonstrated excellence in psychosocial care.
- Demonstrated abilities in leadership, problem-solving, and project coordination.
Terms of Employment
The successful candidate will be employed on a 1-year renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and allowances.
